We’ve survived another fantastic pioneer day weekend here in snowflake Arizona. The weather was perfect. For the first time in a number of years there was very little rain fall during the events.
A beautiful morning greeted many of the onlookers at the parade on Saturday morning. The small back streets in town were lined with floats of all shapes and sizes from local wards and small businesses. And of course, hundreds of pounds of candy (mainly sugar taffy) were thrown to smiling little faces throughout the route.
The rodeo grounds were full to capacity both Friday and Saturday night during the annual pioneer day rodeo. The rodeo entertain the audience with bull riding, bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping and of course everybody’s favorite chicken and calf chase for the kids. A special man versus machine show was also featured demonstrating a barrel racing competition that included a young lady on a horse versus a young man on a dirtbike.
Over at the Snowflake golf course events were also in full swing including the craft fair and car show. The craft fair had its usual group of vendors selling everything from custom wooden pens to backyard furniture. And of course, the Indian fry bread was once again a big hit!
Even though pioneer day weekend is over I can’t help but get excited for next year! Friends and family come from all around to enjoy this fun and exciting time of year. We hope to see you next time in 2016 at the Snowflake Pioneer Day celebrations.
